A Message From Pete Buttigieg, About Joel!

Hi everyone —

It’s Pete Buttigieg and I wanted to talk to you today about Joel’s campaign to be the next supervisor for District 7 in San Francisco.

I met Joel when I was still just exploring a run for president. I was in San Francisco and Joel attended a small gathering in my friend’s living room. We talked about the future of cities and connected over a shared passion for local government and leadership.

On the campaign trail, I often mentioned that we need Washington to start to work more like America’s best-run cities and towns. As a mayor, I knew first-hand how municipalities can face immense challenges. But this also allows for great opportunities to solve problems with, as Joel likes to say, “equal doses of innovation and common sense.”

Joel understands that cities will have to adapt to new realities, especially amid the pandemic. I’m impressed when he talks about how City Hall should view internet fiber infrastructure as the “21st century version of filling potholes.”

This is just one example of how Joel is willing to address current needs while planning for the years ahead. This is the hallmark of a good public servant, whether in City Hall or the White House.

I hope that Joel will have the opportunity to bring his insights and passion to serve your neighborhoods.

Pete
